2017 AUGUST 15 (TUESDAY)
CHICHESTER CATHEDRAL: A BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR
Time: from 10.30 am. Meet at the Cathedral West Door.
An unusual tour because in addition to the main Cathedral we will visit the Library, Song School and Bishops Chapel. Access to the Library and Song School is by spiral stairs so fit mobility is essential. For those with limited mobility the tour will focus on the Cathedral.
£5 per person (a donation to the Cathedral) by cheque payable to The Chichester Society. Post with SAE (for acknowledgement) to Trevor Redman, Chichester Society, 12 Hawthorne Gardens, Hambrook PO18 8FP.
State clearly whether your reservation is for the ‘Behind the Scenes’ tour (with spiral staircase) or the ‘Regular’ Cathedral tour (level access to all areas). Numbers are limited to 20 for each tour and reservations will be confirmed on a first-come basis.

2017 SEPTEMBER 19 (TUESDAY)
EXPLORING HIDDEN CHICHESTER: A WALKING TOUR WITH ALAN GREEN
Time: at 2.30 pm. Meet at the Cattle Market car park, north end behind the toilet block.
Forget for a while the Cathedral, The Market Cross, The Guildhall and all the other famous Chichester landmarks, and join Alan Green on this walk. We will look at some of the city’s less well known features and the history behind them, hidden away in twittens, tunnels and also in prominent places where you never look.
£5 per person payable on the day. For reservations contact Rodney Chambers either by email at rodneychambers@hotmail.co.uk or by ‘phone: 01243 779359. Numbers are limited to 30 and reservations confirmed on a first-come basis.

2016 OCTOBER 25 (TUESDAY)
Pagham-Medmerry wetlands reserve
The 2 hour tour was escorted by one of the staff of the RSPB HQ at Pagham. The Medmerry Managed Realignment Scheme has been constructed over the last few years as an imaginative and sympathetic response to rising sea-level and the increasing difficulty of maintaining coastal defences. It has relieved pressure by allowing the sea to flood quite a large area and form a tidal saltmarsh. This has become a wildfowl reserve under the auspices of RSPB who report that it is working well. Late October is a good time to visit as the migratory birds are gathering then. Other birds will be seen on the walk from the carpark to the new saltmarsh.
